Never met
2024-
Never Met is a project about the coexistence of generations that never lived in the same time.
Old black-and-white photographs from family archives are combined with contemporary portraits. People who never shared the same moment are placed in the same frame, around the same table, or within the same scene.
This creates the illusion of physical presence and familiarity. Gestures, gazes, posture, and surrounding objects reinforce the sense of togetherness and make absence feel almost tangible.
In some images, two faces —ancestor and descendant— are joined into a single portrait. The transition from one to the other feels natural. It’s not always clear who belongs to the past and who to the present.
Never Met is an exercise in memory — an attempt to bring together people who never lived at the same time.
